I first read this on the 4th August 2019.

This the second novel in the Expanse series.

  • Bobbie Draper is the sole survivor of an onslaught by the protomolecule on UN and Martian troops
  • Political tensions are building. The close threat of inter-planetary war hangs over everything
  • On Earth, Chrisjen Avasarala, UN under-secretary, is trying to restrain the dogs of war
  • Mei Meng is kidnapped leaving her father to search desperately for her within a battered, chaotic Ganymede
  • Meanwhile the protomolecule seems to be getting increasingly, and terrifyingly, active on Venus
Our heroes Jim, Naomi, Amos and Alex are right back in the centre of this tumult once again. It's going to be tough struggle to put things right.

Oh, rock and roll! Another great sequel. This novel guaranteed that I would read the entire series. The characters develop, the imagined world becomes more real as one is absolutely caught up in the plot.
