I read this in February 2001.
It's a nice novel, but more about psychiatric analysis than
science fiction. Since the narrator is unable to accept that his
patient may be an alien, he is forced to consider him insane. And yet,
except for this single obsession and one disturbing phobia the visitor
is clearly perfectly sane (but perhaps that is true of most mental
patients). Rather surprising things begin to happen to the other patients, the
narrator himself and his family.
Come to think of it, I may read this again in year or two.
