I first read this on the 30th April 2006 and most recently on the 5th September 2008

This is the second novel in the Vatta's War series.

After most of her family are slaughtered in a surprise attack by unknown assailants, Captain Ky Vatta vows to find out who committed this atrocity. She's supported by a couple of family survivors and the raffish Rafe Madestostuggles.

I honestly don't know how I can enjoy Moon's Serrano novels so much and yet loathe David Weber's Harrington novels. Well in fact I've only read his "Ashes Of Victory". Perhaps it's the writing. I suppose it could be something to do with that.

Loaded on the 22nd December 2020.
