I first read this on the 21st January 2022.

This is the third volume of the great Breakers series.

After the Panhandle pandemic, the young Raina was feral for a couple of years until she was adopted by a couple who gave their home and their love. She slowly began to love them in return. Of course it couldn't last. When the raiders came her comfortable life began to curdle, and it just gets worse and worse. She'll have to fight for her land, until the cost is too high.

Golly gosh! This is such a great series. Edward's writing is so good, his characters are excellent drawn and the plot's are sufficiently twisty an surprising to keep me thoroughly engrossed. I really care about the characters to whom he's introduced us.

What's it got. A global disaster caused by the Panhandle pandemic killing off most everybody. But also aliens, it being them who engineered the pandemic. Plus Raina, of course, one of the few survivors that truly understands the rules of this post-apocalypse world.

Loaded on the 12th June 2022.
